Brodick > There has been an Herbaceous Border at Anglesey Abbey since about 1937, although in its present form only since 1952. The borders are planted to be at their best during the months of June and July. Traditionally, because the wealthy gentry were not in this country in August, and September was the start of the Pheasant shooting season when they were too busy doing other things to be concerned with entertaining in the garden.

Brodick > There has probably been a mill on the site of the present Lode Mill since the time of the Domesday Survey in 1085, although the present mill is thought to have been built in the eighteenth century.
