We took a final look at the Wide Border before driving off up the road for a further visit to Hidcote. We just can't get enough of good gardens.

The pond well head sides represent the four seasons and was made by a company in the Pyrenees. I was certainly prepared to believe that it was much older than its 30 or so years.

Crimson, pink, mauve and purple are the predominant colours in the wide borders. The choice of themed colours works especially here.

These cistus, which can be seen leaning into the previous picture, are a cheerful addition to any border. I am not sure if they are quite hardy enough for our garden though.

There are wide borders either side of the grass path, full of shrubs and herbaceous plants which were all coming to their best in summer display.
