Situated in North Wales above the River Conwy there are some 80 acres of spectacular gardens created around Bodnant Hall. The photographs here are from two separate visits, September 2006 and June 2008. The garden was given to the National Trust in 1949 by Henry McLaren, 2nd Baron Aberconway but the house remains with the family.

A wonderful Trust property situated near to Wrexham, just across the Welsh border. The house is vast and needs some considerable time to view properly.

Penrhyn Castle is situated at the northern end of the Menai Strait in North Wales overlooking Anglesea. Built during the late 13th century by Roger Mortimer, a supporter of Edward 1, who was granted the area after the defeat of the Welsh in 1282. The castle may have been built later than this however, in an effort to quell an uprising by the Welsh in 1294.

Plas Newydd, situated in a prominent position beside the Menai Straits, is the home of the Marquess of Anglesea. The house was rebuilt in the 18th century, although the grounds are more recent and are still being developed. The property came to the National Trust in 1976 but the family are still resident.
